About this deal

Or a cool mystery series about Alex’s friends Taia and Mira investigating weird futuristic cases that straddle the line between technology, metaphysics and the paranormal.

The cast of characters is developed further and while some of the mysteries are solved, others remain. That is until they have to battle the other robots of London under the control of the evil Robot 23. In 2018 it was also chosen as one of the best children's comics of the year by both the New York Public Library and the Schools Library Journal. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. And so I had the idea early on for Wolfram, that he would be kind of a failed early prototype version of what became Alex and Freddy, incredibly powerful but kind of huge and scary and broken. Publication dates are subject to change (although this is an extremely uncommon occurrence overall). The depth and detail of the illustrations is fantastic and rewards repeated viewing, while the dialogue is witty and absorbing. It is still at large and intent on eliminating the “human plague” with Dr Nita Sharma, the Robo Bros mother and inventor, at the top of his list.

Illustrations are bold, atmospheric and bursting with energy and there are plenty of laughs along the way. When robot dinosaurs run amok at the museum and other strange things happen, the brothers are ready for action. It's truly genius stuff, dipping into but never copying tons of robot and sci fi tropes and making them intrinsic to what is the big draw for kids - that despite their obvious superiority, Freddy and Alex are just like any other kid. British Comic Award-winner Neill Cameron’s MEGA ROBO BROS graphic novel epic explodes into its most exciting instalment yet! As to how robots get bigger: well, as Freddy would be the first to tell you, they are HIGHLY ADVANCED robots!

I think he’s from an anime series, but I am a bit embarrassed to admit I’m not quite sure which one. Since 2011 his work has appeared in the weekly children's comic The Phoenix, where he produces - amongst other things - the robotic soap opera comedy Mega Robo Bros, and (with artist Kate Brown) the Cornish-set fantasy drama Tamsin and the Deep.
