About this deal

My plan was to install Drayton Wiser smart TRV's on nearly all my radiators but now I'm wondering if just having a Wiser room thermostat is the better way to go (and cheaper! but when its on it kicks out so much heat i think it was too powerful from the room but it looks good so a smart TRV which will irk my wife no doubt will help our bill as i am sure it really eats up the combi use. This means you can do it remotely, set schedules and save money in the long run by switching it down or off when you’re not home.

Any zone with just dumb TRV's or no TRV's is at the mercy of the smart zones to start/stop the boiler. If you put the room stat in a room with no smart TRV it is controlling the heating in all the rooms without a smart TRV.This valve simply replaces your current radiator valve with super easy installation (either vertical or horizontal) and will allow you to control the heat of the room from your phone or even just by asking Alexa.

Smart radiator valves from Wiser simply attach to your radiators like a traditional thermostatic radiator valve (TRV), so it’s easier and affordable to expand your smart heating system. After calibration which itself seems to sound like the solenoid inside the TRV takes around 10 seconds to close, when the TRV is sent a signal to open, it sounds like the opening only lasts 2 seconds, net result no heat. It feels good quality, and since a firmware upgrade mid way through last year, they’ve been even quieter than they were previously - not that that ever bothered me. By manually adjusting the valve with the numbers on, you can determine how much of your home the boiler heats, i. One area that Wiser has an advantage is that local control does not depend on internet access just a working home wifi.It has up to six daily programmable settings, is voice (through Alexa and Google Home) and remote controlled. And clearly I’m going to have missed stuff here, and immediately it springs to mind that I haven’t found the open window detection to be very good - which is meant to turn off the radiator where a draught is detected, but hasn’t seemed to for me. I have a TRV in the Living Room and main stat is the bedroom, with both rooms on the same schedule and target temps, with Eco and Comfort modes set in the app and I find that once the target temp is reached either by the stat or TRV, then I find this leads how the boiler fires.
