I wanted to get away from the whiteness and try working with a colour and I wanted the colour to give me some sort of feeling about Korea. The first thing that came to mind was yellow and there is no reason for it, more of an instinct or feeling. I think Korea is so colourful, and each colour means something so it could have been any colour. In the hanbok I wore as a child it was full of pinks, greens, yellows, red and white. There is so much symbolism related to each colour and how it is worn I could just get lost in it. Yellow means the earth, protection… so perhaps it reminds me of bottari (which were multi coloured).
