Pressed Creases


I tried out some starched material which had been pressed in a heat press while wet.


These pieces remind me of Pojagi the Korean cloth which is used to make the bottari:


Of course there are similarities with this and other forms of patchwork quilting, the difference with these being that the same cloth is pieced together and that there is no batting or backing to this form of patchwork, only using the top layer, which is best for wrapping objects.  The seam used is a flat felled seam – whereby all of the edges are stitched inside each other, leaving no raw edges.
