Silk Worm Arrival

The silkworms arrived this week and I’ve been trying to keep them alive, which I’ve been told can be difficult especially as it’s difficult to get fresh mulberry leaves in the UK.  I’ve been using mulberry chow which comes in powder form and is mixed with water and then set.  This is Day Five in my care and I received them at 7 days old, so far so good!

I set up a space in PSN because it’s very warm and will be a good space once they start to spin the silk.  I have also commissioned a film of the process of all the different worms by Dawn Felicia Knox.  The idea is that the film will feature in the final exhibition too:
